Our County Show has approximately 120 volunteer stewards who provide valuable expertise during the Show and is lead by Chief Steward Stuart Roberts.

There are plenty of different ways you can get involved with the show, both before and during. If you would like to know more about stewarding, or volunteer for 2017, please email

Stewards Dinner

We had a wonderful evening at the Stewards Dinner on Thurs 11th Nov, thanking the Stewards for their hard work during the 2016 show. Each year the Stewards ensure the show goes as smoothly as possible, organizing everything from the Jubilee Arena entertainment, to managing the cow, sheep and horse exhibits, to marking out of the Trade Stands. There's no way the Show could go on without them!

Henry Barker Award

The Henry Barker Award is an annual presentation to recognize 'outstanding achievement' by an individual or stewarding team. For 2016 the award went to Tom Chapman, presented by Chief Steward Stewart Roberts and Grandson of Henry Barker. This was Tom's first year as our Senior Trade Stand Steward and he was certainly thrown in at the deep end! Tom has been a Steward for over 10 years now and all felt the award was well deserved. Congratulations Tom!

Long Service Awards

Some of our Stewards have been with us for over twenty years and we like to recognize their ongoing contributions to the show and the society.

This year we had seven people to thank;

Jamie Burrows
Nancy Hunter
Vanessa Murphy
James Williams
Julia Boon
Sandra Wood
Christina Wootton

Queen's Award for Voluntary Stewards

In June 2010 our Stewards were awarded the Queen's Award for Volunteer Stewards.
